Α one day sailing trip from Athens

 Aegina, the nearest of the Saronic Gulf islands to Athens (only 17 nm), seems a world away from the urban hustle of the city. With its pretty neoclassical buildings, important ancient sites from classical times (Aphaia and Apollo Temple) and surrounded by crystal clear waters it is an ideal getaway option for the visitor with limited time, who wants to get a taste of the island life and have a relaxing day by the sea.

You will spend the day according to your preferences and the weather conditions: Drop the anchor in unspoiled coves with turquoise waters to swim and snorkel and visit ancient sites like the temple of Aphaia or the charming port town of Aegina.

By 5 pm we set sails again towards Athens, enjoying with a glass of wine the spectacular sunset over the Saronic and the views of Salamina island, Piraeus and Athens as we approach.

Relax on board

Sail alongside the coastline of Aegina with its fantastic bays and enjoy the view of the volcanic Methana peninsula on the West side. And who knows, chances are high to encounter dolphins on the way…

Swim and snorkel

…in the turquoise blue water of a pine tree covered cove on the islet Moni, a spectacular uninhabited islet – its only locals are deer and peacocks.

Visit the gorgeous Aphaia Temple

This temple, surrounded by pine trees, is considered one of the most important temples of Greece and is part of an equilateral ‘Holy Triangle’ of temples including the Athenian Parthenon and the temple of Poseidon at Sounion. It is located 3km uphill from the port, either reachable on foot or with taxi.

Discover the port town of Aegina

Take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage, stroll around the narrow paved streets and beautiful alleys. Enjoy fresh fish or an ouzo in a local taverna, and finally don’t forget to get a bag of pistachios. It’s a delicious local product and this variety is considered to be the best in the Mediterranean.
