Α one day sailing trip from Aegina

Are you looking for a varied adventure by the sea – a world away from the usual sightseeing and the urban hustle and bustle of the city ?

Combine a visit to Aegina island with an unique one day sailing experience on a privately chartered yacht exclusively with your family or friends. Drop the anchor in unspoiled coves, swim and snorkel in their turquoise, crystal clear water, relax on board and enjoy a delicious, freshly cooked lunch in your floating restaurant.

Aegina, conveniently located in the middle of the Saronic gulf, is the ideal starting point for a day trip, as it is surrounded by crystal clear blue waters and in distances of 2 to 9 miles (sailing time from 20 to 90 min) there are some beautiful islands and gorgeous coves all around to explore.

It is a perfect getaway option for the visitor with limited time, who wants to get a taste of the island life and have an exciting day by the sea.

Our departure point of our trips is the main port of Aegina. A ferry from Piraeus will get you there in less than 45 minutes. Disembark in this picturesque port and walk just a few meters along the same dock to embark on our sailboat JOJO.

The Itinerary

At 11 a.m. we set sails from the port of Aegina. It is super easy and quick to go there via a short ferry ride from the port of Piraeus. Our trips end at 5 pm. Regarding the itinerary we propose two possible routes. The first starts and ends in the main port of Aegina, offering less travelling and more time at the coves for swimming and snorkeling. The second route again starts in the main port of Aegina but ends in the port of Agia Marina, and including more traveling and shorter stops in the coves but offering the chance to visit the Aphaia Temple.

Sail the area west of Aegina and make two stops in unspoiled coves. First, we drop the anchor in Moni island and the 2nd stop could be either in Kira or Agistri, where you enjoy a freshly cooked lunch. We return to the port of Aegina at 5 p.m. This will give you enough time to scroll around the picturesque port town with its beautiful neoclassical buildings and maybe enjoy your dinner in a local taverna, before catching the ferry back to Piraeus (the last leaves at 8:50 p.m.).

If you wish to travel a bit longer but combine your sailing adventure with a visit of an ancient temple we could make a one way trip starting from Aegina port, drop the anchor in two beautiful coves around Agistri and Moni, where you enjoy your delicious Greek lunch – and then travel further around the island and end the trip at 5 p.m. in Agia Marina. This will give you enough time to visit the Aphaia Temple before catching the ferry back to Piraeus from the port of Agia Marina at 7:20 p.m.

How to get to Aegina and back

Take a taxi or the metro (blue line) to the port of Piraeus. Just next to the metro station Gate 8 is located, from where you can catch one of the numerous ferries in the morning. It will take 40 min with the High-Speed-ferry (19 €  per adult) or 1h10 min with the normal ferry (10,50 € -12 €).

The last ferry from Aegina back  to Piraeus leaves the port at 8:50 pm, and from Agia Marina the last ferry departs at 7:20 p.m. (30 min).

Beautiful Coves

Drop the anchor in the uninhabited island of Moni, where you can swim in turquoise waters right in front of a beautiful pine forest or snorkel inside a cave between rocky cliffs.

Sail to the deserted islet of Kira, only approachable with a private yacht and chances are you will be the only visitors.

Sail to the island of Agistri with its unique cove in Aponnisos. This is one of the top destination to visit with a yacht in the Saronics. Because of its crystal clear and transparent waters it offers an amazing swimming and snorkeling experience. And as it is very well sheltered it is an ideal place to use the paddleboard.

Ancient Sites

Agia Marina, a beautiful cove with a small marina in the north east of Aegina Island. What makes this place special apart the crystal clear waters is the stunning Temple of Aphaia – very well preserved although older than the Parthenon of Athens, but much less visited because of its remote location. This temple, surrounded by pine trees, is considered one of the most important temples of Greece and is part of an equilateral ‘Holy Triangle’ of temples including the Athenian Parthenon and the temple of Poseidon at Sounio. It is located 1.7 km uphill from the port, either reachable on foot or with taxi (20 €).

Your day on board

You can perfectly relax on board and let us operate the yacht. Take in the views and who knows, chances are high to encounter dolphins on the way. But, of course, everybody, who is keen to lend a hand, is more than welcome to participate actively. Learn to how trim the sails for winds or get behind the helm during a more hands-on-experience.
Try fishing with a line – maybe something bites!
If you don’t catch anything… no worries. On your floating restaurant you will enjoy e freshly cooked lunch with all the yummy flavours of Greece.
Explore beautiful coves on the stand-up-paddle board and try to keep the balance.
